Frequently asked questions
How often are the treatments?
Initially, treatments are schedule at 3-4 weeks apart. As hair growth decreases, the interval extends to 4-6 weeks.
How does the treatment feel?
SHR is almost painless, with clients typically experiencing only a warm sensation. The procedure is quick and involves no downtime.
How long does each session take?
Upper lip and underarm treatments take about 2 minutes, while larger areas like legs take 10-12 minutes.
What areas can be treated with SHR?
Almost any body part can be treated. Popular areas include underarms, upper lips, fingers, legs, beards, Brazilian, and back. SHR may be effective for treating ingrown hairs.
What can I expect after each treatment?
Hair grows in different cycles, so multiple sessions are needed for effective reduction. You'll notice fewer and finer hairs after each session.
Most clients see noticeable reduction of hair by the middle of their treatment package, sometimes even better results! Results vary based on factors like skin tone, hair colour, thickness, hormones, and treatment area. Note that red or blond hair may require more sessions than darker hair.
Will the treated hairs grow back?
Hairs actively growing during SHR treatment will not regrow. However, hair follicles not in the active growth phase will still need additional treatment.
It's common to see fine hairs return after a few years due to hormonal changes, pregnancy, medication, menopause, or aging. Maintenance treatment is recommended.
SHR for 16-17-year-olds
Parental consent and presence are required for the first appointment.
Results are temporary during teenage years due to hormonal changes and active hair growth.
Results vary among individuals. Hair regrowth will occur over time, regardless of the technology used, as new cells regenerate.
BEFORE THE TREATMENT
Please inform your therapist if you:
Are unwell or have recently recovered from rashes, eczema, or dermatitis.
Are menstruating, pregnant, or have open wounds.
WHAT SHOULD I DO BEFORE & AFTER THE TREATMENT?
Avoid waxing or plucking for 3 weeks before and between treatments.
Refrain from swimming, sauna or hot showers within 48 hours.
Do not use perfumed products, deodorant, aromatherapy oils, or bleaching creams 48 hours before or after the treatment.
Do not exfoliate, undergo microdermabrasion, or peels one week before and after the treatment.
Avoid wearing tight clothing 48 hours before and after the treatment.
Keep the treatment area clean, dry, and free from any open wounds.
Avoid sun-tanning one week before and after the treatment.
Shave the treatment area 1-3 days before your appointment to reduce and prevent skin getting sensitive. Post-treatment, you can apply soothing moisturizer and aloe vera gel.
DURING/AFTER TREATMENT
Some sensitivity may occur during the treatment, depending on the area and individual.
Temporary side effects may include redness, swelling, and mild "sunburn"-like effects lasting 3-4 days. Redness and swelling usually subside with an ice pack or aloe vera gel (cold gel work even better).
Rare side effects include blistering, crusting, itching, pain and burns. Infection and scarring are rare but possible if the skin's surface is not clean and intensely dry skin, bordering on peeling. To minimize risk, pre and post treatment instructions should be adhere.
Note : Consult a doctor if you notice signs of skin infection or prolonged side effects
